Where Learners Take Flight

Friendship Day School for the Sciences and the Arts is a K–3 private school located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Open to youth of all faiths and ethnicities, we offer students a rigorous and accelerated program within a caring environment. Our program educates and enhances student learning through engagement, exploration, and evaluation of the world through the lens of science. Our curriculum is complemented by universal spiritual core values designed to support curious scholars who will approach and solve local and global issues.

A Message from Our Principal, Ms. Comer

I have read stories reporting that students in some schools have “lost a year” as a result of remote learning. That is a sad commentary, especially for students who need and depend on a great education.

Since our governor mandated the closing of schools, we have implemented Enriched Virtual Learning, an online program that helps to protect the health and safety of our scholars. Yes, teaching core academics is essential, but by including mindfulness, visual arts, Spanish, and physical education, our scholars engage more enthusiastically.

We recognize that virtual instruction is not the same as face-to-face instruction, and we have developed this program to ensure that FDS scholars are not at risk of a “lost year.” Thank you to the moms, dads, grandparents, aunties, uncles, and sitters for your support, help, and caring. Scholars at FDS continue to SOAR!

Sincerely,

Ms. Linda Comer
